Eastern PA Recap

October 11, 2022

The Bethlehem Twp Community Center harbored scads of the tri-state area’s undiscovered talent during the Eastern PA Showcase hosted by Sticks Skills Training this past weekend. Twenty-eight prospects representing thirteen distinct AAU programs from NJ, NY and PA respectively occupied the venue in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Staple programs like Exodus NYC and The Philadelphia Belles both had representatives on hand however, a few up and coming programs boasted a cadre of young prospects looking to bring their organizations to prominence.

Upperclassmen

2024 G Morgan Matthews (Jersey Gemz AAU) has made her mark as one of New Jersey’s top guards regardless of class with her play over the past 6 months and her performance at this event lent more credence to her case as such. Matthews, who will play at the Pennington School this winter spent a large portion of the event slashing to the basket finishing with either hand but ensured the other prospects on hand felt her presence on the defensive side of the ball as well. Following a visit to NC State last week, Matthews has recently picked up an offer from SEC contender Mississippi St and visited the University of Delaware immediately following the Eastern PA showcase.

2024 G CiCi Hernandez (Philly Belles) could be one of the more unheralded prospects in the Tri-State area. The Bethlehem Catholic (PA) standout is primed for a breakout season. Following up a stellar July in which she put herself on a fair share of recruiting radars she continues to make a lasting impression each time she steps on the court.

Watchlist

Dagny Slomack’24-Newark Academy HS Gauchos AAU

Eva Andrews’24 -Paul VI Team Miller Elite

Saniyah Spell’24 -Trenton Catholic Books and Basketball

Kayla Oliphant’24 -Trenton Catholic United NJ

With the high school season on the horizon a quartet of prospects from New Jersey could see their recruitment trend up. Dagny Slomack has demonstrated an indefatigable commitment to her evolution as a player, and has made a splash at several college elite camps this summer. Eva Andrews has picked up 3 offers this year and raised some eyebrows during the open gym season. Last but not least Coach Sherika Salmon has pair of guards that could ignite the resurgence of Trenton Catholic Academy with Saniyah Spell and Kayla Oliphant.
